1. How do I arrange an audition for my son/daughter?
Auditions are by appointment, please call Dr. Kathy Sorensen at (801) 484-4227 or Mrs. Sheri Stettler at (801) 544-5584.

2. Does my child need to have previous voice training?
Absolutely not, we take full responsibility for teaching your child to sing properly. Private voice lessons are not recommended for young children.

3. Is there an age limit to join the choir?
As early as age 5 and through high school graduation.

4. What does my son/daughter need to bring for the audition?
For the audition, the singer should bring a prepared piece of music and a smile.

5. What should my son/daughter expect during the audition?
They may be asked to echo back short melodies and rhythms, sing back notes of a chord, or things appropriate for their age and musical ability. Auditions are used for placement in the choir, so that your child will succeed.

6. My child is young, do you have different choir levels?
Yes, each child's ability is evaluated during the audition. Depending on the ability there are two entry levels the singer may enter: Apprentice and Preparatory level. Click here to see choir level descriptions.

7. What are the possible outcomes of an audition?
A. The Preparatory Program - This will help your child learn basic performing skills and music skills in an enjoyable and non-stressful way. These skills are needed to become an Apprentice in the International Children's Choir (aka, the "big choir"). The Preparatory Program instructor will advise you when your child is ready to be promoted.

B. Your child is ready to begin as an Apprentice. It is a high honor to enter at this level. Participation in performances is allowed as soon as songs for a given performance are memorized. An authentic costume will be rented annually from the choir for major concerts and VIP events (ambassadors, dignitaries, conferences, etc.)

8. Is there a cost to audition?
There is a $25 fee that is applied toward your tuition when you register, or auditions are free at our summer music camp.
